Your Confidentiality and Data
We all need to feel reassured that our personal data is kept confidential, especially when it relates to our health. Renewed Perspectives is registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO); you can access their website here.
Information collected and stored by Renewed Perspectives
Renewed Perspectives will retain all information that you directly provide, including but not limited to:
- Identifiable information such as name, address, email, phone number

- Completed forms to support the therapy sessions, such as questionnaires, diaries

- A summary of each attended session

The information is stored in an encrypted, electronic format. I do not hold paper records.
All information will be held for a period of 7 years following the end of your sessions, at which point it will be securely destroyed. This is in line with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations, as well as the guidance set out by the BABCP.
Confidentiality
Everything you share with me will be kept confidential unless:
- You tell me that you or someone else is at risk of imminent harm

- You tell me that you have committed a crime, or you share identifiable details about someone else who has

- I am compelled to share information as instructed by a court of law

I am required to attend regular clinical supervision, with an appropriately qualified and experienced supervisor. This is to support my continued professional development and to ensure that my practice is both effective and ethical. During these sessions, a summary of the sessions you have attended will be shared with my supervisor, but no personally identifiable information about you will be disclosed. As an accredited member of the BABCP, my supervisor is also bound by confidentiality and is registered with the ICO.
I am the only person who has access to the information held about you. However, in the event that I am unable to practice and cannot contact you myself, I have a nominated professional who would be provided with access to the records held by Renewed Perspectives. This is to enable them to contact you on my behalf and to discuss next steps. As above, this nominated person is bound by confidentiality and registered with the ICO.
When you ask me to share information about you
There may be times that you ask me to share information with someone else such as a partner, family member, friend or professional to support what we are working on in session. Where this is the case, we will agree together what you are happy and not happy for me to share with them before this conversation goes ahead. If we do not already have a prior agreement already in place, I will be unable to share any information with anyone who may contact me about you unless I am legally compelled to do so.
I am unable to write reports or letters in support of benefits or compensation claims, and I am not medically qualified to offer a formal medical diagnosis. Should you require it, I can provide a statement confirming your engagement with Renewed Perspectives. However, this will not provide any clinical information.
If you have any questions about how your data is managed, please email me via louise@renewedperspectives.co.uk
The video platform used by Renewed Perspectives
Renewed Perspectives uses a video platform called Doxy. Doxy is end-to-end encrypted, meaning that all chat messages and video calls sent through the website remain private, and they do not collect or store any health or other sensitive information.
Before the session, I will email you a weblink from the Renewed Perspectives email address which will take you to a welcome screen; you will not be asked to create an account or a log-in. After clicking the link, you will be asked to enter your name and then click on “check in”. This is for my benefit, so that I know who has joined, and Doxy will not seek to verify the name that you have used or store it after the session ends.
Doxy is GDPR compliant.
To learn more about security on the platform, please visit https://doxy.me/en/patients/ (you will find frequently asked questions towards the bottom of the page, and a link to “Privacy and Security” at the bottom).
